1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading and using Monophone, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use the app.

2. Use License

Permission is granted to download and use Monophone for personal, non-commercial purposes only. This is the grant of a license, not a transfer of title.

3. Disclaimer

Monophone is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. Use at your own risk.

4. Limitations

In no event shall we be liable for any damages arising out of the use or inability to use Monophone. This includes but is not limited to damages for loss of data or profits.

5. Refund Policy

Monophone is free to download and use, with no required paid features or subscriptions. If optional paid features are introduced in the future, refunds will be governed by the applicable app store's (Google Play) refund policy. For any billing-related issues, please contact Google Play support directly.

6. Responsible Use

While Monophone is designed to help you manage your digital wellbeing, you are responsible for how you use the app. Our distraction-control features — including the Blocker screen, which can restrict short-form content such as Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts — are provided to help you reduce distractions, but you are responsible for how you configure and use them. We recommend using these features as a supplement to, not a replacement for, responsible digital habits. Do not use the app in a way that could cause harm to yourself or others.

7. Intellectual Property

Monophone and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Monophone and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. All rights reserved.

8. AI Services Disclaimer

Monophone uses artificial intelligence services (Google Gemini) to provide AI-powered features such as intelligent task scheduling and weekly planning. By using these features, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

AI Limitations

• AI responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or inappropriate
• AI-generated suggestions are not a substitute for professional advice (medical, legal, financial, etc.)
• You are responsible for reviewing and approving all AI-suggested actions before they are executed
• AI features require internet connection and are dependent on third-party AI service availability

Data Processing by AI Services

When you use AI features, certain data is sent to third-party AI providers (Google Gemini) for processing, including:

• Your messages and commands
• Voice input — if you use voice-to-text in the AI scheduler, the short audio clip you record is transmitted to Google Gemini solely to transcribe your spoken command into text. Audio is captured only while you actively record and is not stored on your device after it is processed.
• Conversation history
• User profile data (persona, goals, preferences)
• Task and schedule information
• Focus statistics and usage data

All data transmitted to AI services is encrypted. If you choose to bring your own API key (BYOK) for AI features, your key is stored only on your device, encrypted with your device's secure keystore, and is never sent to Monophone's servers. Please review our Privacy Policy for complete details about the data we collect, how permissions are used, and how focus time may be shared in groups.

User Responsibility

• You are responsible for actions taken based on AI suggestions
• You should verify the accuracy of AI-generated information before relying on it
• You can disable AI features at any time in Settings → AI Features
• Core app functionality (focus tools, timer, planner) works without AI features enabled

No Liability

We are not liable for any damages, losses, or harm resulting from your use of AI features or reliance on AI-generated content. AI features are provided for convenience only.

9. Eligibility

Monophone is intended for individuals aged 16 and older. By downloading or using the app you confirm that you are at least 16 years old and are legally able to enter into these terms. If you are under 16, please do not use the app.

10. Accounts & Termination

If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity conducted under your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or engage in unlawful behaviour.

You may delete your account at any time via the app or our Account Deletion Request page, which removes your account and associated data in line with our Privacy Policy. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including disclaimers, limitations of liability, and intellectual property — will continue to apply.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from your use of Monophone will be resolved in the appropriate courts of India.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify users of material changes through app notifications or our website.
